Researcher Creates 'Artificial Tongue' That Can Detect Fake Whiskey
How much are you willing to bet on your ability to tell the difference between a top shelf whiskey and something your best mate's Grandad cooked up in his shed?
Uwe Bunz, a researcher from the University of Heidelberg has developed a 'synthetic tongue' that can differentiate between whiskeys based on their brand, age, blend and even country of origin with astonishing accuracy!

While Bunz admits his invention can't identify an unknown sample, it can compare a sample to other known samples. "If you buy a crate of expensive whiskeys," he said, "you can test if they are actually what you think they are."
The artificial tongue is actually a fluorescent solution.

Understanding the Incredible Engineering of Cruise Ships
Cruise ships are some of the largest ships on the water by volume and by the number of people carried, they have every other ship beat. The world's largest cruise ship, Harmony of the Seas, can carry 6,780 guests and 2,100 crew members. Aside from the numbers, these ships are usually adorned in opulence. They are designed in such a way that stepping aboard feels like you are stepping into a world class hotel on land. As you can already guess, engineering these mega ships takes some innovative solutions and a lot of work. Before we get too far into the specialized engineering behind cruise ship construction, you can watch the entire process in the time-lapse video below.

World's Smallest Electric Vehicle Is Getting Ready for the 2020 Olympics
SkyDrive could change the way the world commutes very soon indeed. A manned test flight of a prototype is planned for the end of 2018. SkyDrive was designed by 30 Toyota employees who are developing it in their spare time. Incredibly, this electric vehicle is hoped to light the flame of the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
Imagine a future where we will be able to fly above our cities, much like the Jetsons or promises of many a Sci-Fi author. This future may become a reality with SkyDrive. One of the world's largest car manufacturers, Toyota, has recently sold its entire stake in Tesla and go it alone.

New State of Matter Could Solve the 30-Year-Old Mystery of Glass
New glass research is shattering a well-established mystery about the material and creating some exciting news about the states of matter.

Mystery Solved
The mystery starts by understanding what happens when you zoom in on a crystal. Through the microscope, you'll see an orderly arrangement of atoms. Even spaced and understandable. On the contrary, zoom in on a piece of glass and you'll see something more chaotic.  The image will look more like a pile of sand, un-ordered.  This is where things get interesting.
The highly-ordered crystals make them easy to understand mathematically.

New Discovery of 300,000-Year-Old Homo Sapiens Fossils Rewrites Human History
The earliest known Homo sapiens were unearthed in an archaeological site in Jebel Irhoud, Morocco. The new uncovered set of fossils and stone tools revealed that the origins of our species date back to 300,000 years ago.
