Engineered Protein Could Potentially Fight MERS Virus
When the viral respiratory disease called MERS claimed the life of a 60-year-old man in Saudia Arabia back in 2012, the World Health Organization declared the strange virus as a deadly threat without any available treatment or vaccine. Until now. There is still no cure for the virus and only supportive treatment is offered which depends on a patient's clinical condition. But the battle with the virus is about to change as scientists from the University of Toronto have developed an engineered protein that could potentially be used to treat MERS and other viruses.

Engineered protein
MERS hijacks the ubiquitin system in human cells that are made up of hundreds of proteins, which rely on the ubiquitin to preserve the cells' life.

Clifton Suspension Bridge: A Remarkable Engineering Triumph
The Clifton Suspension Bridge is an icon of the City of Bristol, England and it recently celebrated its 150th Birthday. It spans the beautiful and picturesque Avon Gorge and connects Bristol with North Somerset. The structure is a Grade I listed structure and attracts visitors from across the world every year. Today the bridge's upkeep is entirely funded by tolls, a practice that hasn't changed since it opened to the public in 1864. The bridge is manned and open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week all year round.
In 1829 a competition was held to find a suitable design for the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

It was with large energy consumers like China, the United States, and India where the growth of solar photovoltaic employment flourished. The employment boom in this sector was primarily due to declining cost and supportive policy frameworks in the mentioned countries.

This DIY 72,000-Lumen Flashlight Can Illuminate the Exterior of an Entire Building
This extremely high luminous LED flashlight is entirely homemade and it was made using components that can be bought online. It's much brighter than car headlights and other powerful flashlights at a staggering 72,000 lumens. YouTuber Samm Sheperd documented his DIY journey in creating this mega flashlight.

What is Lumens?
Essentially, Lumen (lm) is a measure of the total amount of visible light coming from various light sources that can be seen by the human eye. It's equivalent to light output, so the higher the lumen value the brighter the light source will appear.
