Although Instagram is a great photo sharing app it lacks one of the important feature of making photo collages. But this is about to change as the app has finally responded to every users constant request and launched a collage app. Dubbed as Layout, the app lets iPhone users combine up to nine photos in a single shot. Users can select upto nine photos from their Camera Roll and they can be organized in three sections: recent photos snapped, photos with people's faces in them, and an area with all your shots. The Layout app offers 10 custom layout options for your photo collage but you can also customize the photos with editing controls for layout, sizing, flipping, and rotation. A fun addition in the Layout app is a "Photo Booth" button that lets you use capture more spontaneous moments. When you tap this button, the app starts a countdown timer and then captures a series of photos that you will see appear instantly in a layout. Instagram said that one in five of the app's 300 million monthly active users post collages and it this has led the company to build Layout. This is the second creative app to come out of Instagram in the ... |
With an aim to bolster its Appstore installs, Amazon is said to be launching a new "Unlocked" program, as per Tech Crunch. This service will offer paid apps and games absolutely free. The report describes Unlocked as "Amazon Prime for apps," and it would offer paid apps for free, and even unlock all in-app purchases for "free-to-play" games. Developers can leave Unlocked, and when they do, users will have to begin paying for in-app purchases again. The document showed off a few examples of games and apps that may be offered through the Unlocked program. Some of the apps and games in the Unlocked program are Sonic Dash, and Monument Valley , OfficeSuite 8 + PDF Converter and Ultimate Guitar Tabs & Chords. It is not clear when Amazon Unlocked will launch, how it will work, where the free apps will be located, and how much it will cost. Moving on the report further adds that Amazon plans to promote Unlocked heavily in its main shopping app — and Unlocked users will in fact need to have that main shopping app installed |
In a bid to put more focus on digital privacy, BlackBerry has announced BBM Protected support for Android and iOS. This will allow those smartphone owners to access a more secure enterprise-based version of its BBM messaging service. Earlier BBM protect was only accessible through Blackberry devices but now devices running Android and iOS can also use the feature. BBM Protected for iOS, Android, and BlackBerry phones uses encryption keys which are generated by the communicating mobile devices themselves. It is part of the BBM Protected IM service which offers the standard IM app-like features along with boosted security. To use the service one can start a Protected conversation on the BBM Protect and even invite non-BBM protected users into the conversation, as long as they have the BBM app on their device. This feature is geared towards business users who once exclusively relied on BlackBerry hardware and software. BBM Protected is available for BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, iPhone, and Android devices. Blackberry claims that their software will save the consumer from 'man in the middle' hacker attacks to provide greater security than other instant messaging apps present in the market. |
Starting out with laptops, the depth-sensing "Real Sense" technology from Intel has had slow adoption, mainly due to the fact that innovation was mostly around mobile. At this year's MWC, we had seen how Intel is finally Moving Mobile, and as a part of this effort, Real Sense is now available in smaller devices, like the Dell Venue 8 7000 series tablet. We tried to find out what Real Sense is all about, on this device. httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gzGUG_oH8I The Real Sense setup at the back of the Dell Venue 8 is intriguing, to say the least. First of all, to bring down the thickness of a multi-camera setup is hard, and to install it in a 6.1mm tablet is even harder. Apparently, the depth cameras are now just 3.5mm thick, so they occupy space at the bottom of the back, on a black strip, below which is the primary rear-facing camera which has all the pixels to record data. The two Real Sense cameras on the strip are spaced in a way that it resembles the human eye. For comparison sakes, other implementations have had a single depth sensing unit, which worked in tandem with the main camera, but here, the sensing is more ... |

Facebook has launched a couple of apps like Slingshot and Messenger on the mobile. Now, the social network is working on a new dialer and caller ID app for Android. The description of the app seen in the screenshots features a "FB-only" tag, which suggests that the feature is still in testing period and has been accidentally leaked. As per the screenshots the information of the app that is dubbed as phone shows who is calling and automatically blocks calls from commonly blocked numbers." It is not known whether that means Facebook's dialer would block calls from people that you have already elected to block on your specific device or people you have also blocked on Facebook. Facebook confirmed the app's existence to VentureBeat. "We are always testing things and have nothing to announce at this time," the company said. There is no word about when the app will be launched. |
Google has started rolling out a new feature to some Android users that will make it the unlocking of a smartphone very easy. The company is adding "On-Body detection" to Smart Lock. The On-Body detection feature make it sure that your smartphone remains unlocked when you are holding your device or carrying it with you. It uses your device's accelerometer to detect whether your device is still being carried on the body. "If your device detects that it's no longer being held, your device won't stay unlocked," reads Google's note. When you place it on a table or some other surface, it locks your phone again. The screenshots are apparently from a Nexus 4 running Android 5.0.1 and Google Play Services 7.0.97. The owner says that the feature appeared after performing a factory reset on the device. The device will remain locked when you pick it back up. And if you pass an unlocked phone over to another person it remains unlocked. On-body detection appears to be gradually rolling out now to users running Android 5.0 or newer with the latest version of the Play Services app. |
