Just after announcing the latest iPhones and the Watch, Apple is all set to update its iPad line this year, specifically on the 16th of October, according to a report from recode. The event is supposedly a laid back affair, after the high profile announcements that happened last month. It is seemingly centered around, not just new iPads, but new iMacs too, which are awaiting a retina display refresh, if rumours are to be believed. If Apple goes ahead with just a refresh of the iPads, the event will feature the sixth generation of the original and the third generation of the iPad mini, but anything otherwise will be interesting to watch. The iPad's journey, until the Air, has been peppered with minimal changes in design, but massive improvements in power and display quality. The iPad Air brought in some much needed changes to design, bringing it in line with the Mini, but then, the performance improvements haven't really been put to further use since the 4. The retina mini, on the other hand, had reached parity in performance with the iPad Air and we expect that to continue. Some rumours of a bigger 12 inch iPad are doing the usual rounds ... |

FoneArena has got access to what seems like customer invites to buy the Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on launch day in India which is slated for October 17th 2014 which is about 2 weeks away. Going by the information on the invite the iPhone 6 and its bigger brother 6 Plus will go on sale on 16th night in India. Apple did roll out the iPhone 5s and 5c in India in a similar fashion with customer launch events at major cities including Chennai, Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai . No information on the pricing at this point but we expect it to be similar to the Europe / UK pricing. Stocks are expected to be extremely limited considering the global demand for the new iPhones with wait times upto 4 weeks in many other launch countries. The main highlight of the iPhone 6 is a bigger 4.7 inch display and a faster A8 chip and the iPhone 6 Plus marks Apple's entry into the Phablet category with a 5.5 inch Full HD display. Looks like LG let slip a few tidbits about an entirely new thing we weren't even aware of. The Korean giant, which bought the beleaguered WebOS from Hewlett Packard, to later introduce them in its TVs, is now bringing it to Smartwatches. This has been revealed on LG's own website, according to the Verge, which posted the screenshot above and two others, explaining the company's new initiative. The picture above has the familiar WebOS bean bird that was used as a mascot for WebOS' TV experience, but here it is carrying a watch, which obviously points to Smartwatches. LG recently launched its first circular smartwatch, the G Watch R, which we had taken a hands on look at, recently. It runs on Android Wear, just like LG's first Smartwatch, banking on software provided by Google, but the addition of WebOS to its LG's Smartwatch lineup tells us two things. One, Android Wear hasn't taken off as expected. Two, even Smartwatches as a category hasn't taken off, so there's still a lot of room for innovation. WebOS was undoubtedly one of the most impressive smartphone user experiences that inspired current market leaders iOS and Android, in many ways (Multitasking, anyone?). Even in ... |
