Sony announced the Xperia Z3 earlier this month and it was launched in India earlier this week for Rs 51,990. We have already brought you Hands On and photo gallery and a detailed review of the Z3. Now we are bringing you a comparison gallery of the the Z3 with Xperia Z2 that was launched in India back in May . Both the devices have a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Triluminos Display with Live Colour LED powered by X-Reality engine. The former has a brighter display than the latter and is equipped with 600 cd brightness. The Xperia Z3 is powered by 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor (MSM8974AC) with Adreno 330 GPU while the Z2 is powered by 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AB) processor with Adreno 330 GPU. Both the phones sport a 2.2MP front-facing camera with 1080p video recording. Both the phones have on screen buttons and no physical button. BlackBerry has reported their quarterly earnings report yesterday for their second quarter of fiscal 2015 that ended August 30, 2014. The company has posted a smaller loss of $207 million which amounts to about $0.39 loss per share. It has reported $916 million revenue, which breaks down to 46% for hardware (compared to 39% last quarter), 46% for services (compared to 54% last quarter) and 8% for software. It made hardware revenue on approximately 2.1 million BlackBerry smartphones and shipped approximately 2.4 million BlackBerry smartphones in the quarter. We are confident that we will achieve break-even cash flow by the end of FY15, said the CEO John Chen. BlackBerry Z3, the company's latest mid-range BlackBerry 10 smartphone saw a huge success in several countries, said the CEO in the earnings calls. So far it has launched the Z3 smartphone in 12 countries and plans to launch it in 10 more countries. BlackBerry Passport that was launched couple of days back saw 200,000 orders till now in the counties where it's on sale and it sold out in 6 hours on BlackBerry.com. Xiaomi has announced that it would sell 100,000 phones a week in October during Diwali. This was revealed by Hugo Barra, Vice President of Xiaomi Global to . Yesterday at the GMIC Bangalore, Manu Jain, Head at Xiaomi India said that the Mi 3 would be available again in India during Diwali, weeks after it stopped selling the smartphone in the country. The company currently sells Xiaomi Redmi 1S through Flipkart. It started with 40,000 units, later it increased it to 60,000 units. In the fifth sale of the Redmi 1S on September 30th, the company would sell another 60,000 units. In the interview to Reuters India, Barra said that they are chartering planes from Hong Kong to India to bring in Mi 3 and Redmi phones. So it could sell 60,000 units of Redmi 1s and 40,000 units of Mi 3 during Diwali. The company has not reveal how many units would go on sale in each. HP launched the Slate 6 VoiceTab and Slate 7 VoiceTab, two new phablets in India with 3G support and voice calling capabilities back in February. HP 7 VoiceTab, the company's new phablet in the VoiceTab series would launch in India early next week. The teaser says Never Before Product, Never Before Price, Never Before Offer and shows a more rounded design compared to the first VoiceTab series. It will have a 7-inch display, come with voice calling capabilities and 3G support. It has a rear camera with LED flash and the speakers are present next to it. Xiaomi Mi 3 went on sale in India back in July, but the company temporarily discontinued the smartphone in August to concentrate on the Redmi 1S smartphone. Today at the GMIC Bangalore, Manu Jain, Head at Xiaomi India said that the smartphone would be available again in India during Diwali. It will be a flash sale again, but he did not reveal the number of units that would go on sale or the exact date of sale. The company is said to have sold about 95,000 Mi3 smartphones in six weeks when it was on sale. For Xiaomi Redmi 1S the company started with 40,000 units, later it increased it to 60,000 units. Amazon has given its Goodreads app for iOS a makeover. The app has been revamped with a new design and navigation. This is the first major update for Goodreads since its was bought by Amazon in March last year. The popular social network for book lovers has been updated to run efficiently for the latest iOS 8 experience. Goodreads 3.0 features a streamlined navigation and chucks the outdated grid-based home menu and offers a revamped bottom tab menu. It now show all the friends updates into a redesigned feed where users can like and comment on the books they are reading. In addition, the app gets a My Books" section along with a search option to find books. It also features a barcode scanner to add books to your "To Read" shelf. The Indian tablet market has seen a rise in demand from consumer electronic sector including education and private enterprise. Tablet shipment in India has touched 3.44 million units for the year ending June 2014, as per a latest report from 6Wresearch. Android continued to rule the Indian tablet market with more than 87% of market share which is followed by iOS at 12%. Giving insights about the vendors, the report said that Samsung topped the charts along with Micromax to lead the Android tablet market. Both the companies were responsible for 45% of the total tablet market. Microsoft continued to attract buyers due to its low end device portfolio. In terms of screen size, 7 inch tablet registered more than 74% of the market share. Wide acceptance of phablets among the Indian consumers acts as a hurdle for the projected growth of India Tablet PC market, said the report. It stated that the delay in BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certifications have deferred the entry of foreign players halting the growth of India Tablet PC market. HP is planning to launch HP Slate 17, an all-in-one Android desktop/tablet. As the name suggests the device will have a 17 inch screen that can be used as a large tablet or a desktop PC. The device is powered by an Intel Celeron N2807 Bay Trail processor while in comparison HP Slate 21 is powered by NVIDIA Tegra processor. HP Slate 17 will sport a Full HD screen and run on Android KitKat 4.4. Other features include Beats Audio, 2GB of RAM, an HDMI port a USB 2.0 port, and a memory card reader. Connectivity options include built-in 802,11a/b/g/n WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and a 720p webcam. All the aforementioned features were listed on HP's Peru website. HP is claiming that the internal battery of the device will last for five hour on a full charge. HP Slate 17 weights a hefty 2.4 kg which is too heavy for a tablet and will not be suitable to carry it around easily. Xolo has released beta version of KitKat update for the Q1200, Q900S and A500 Club smartphones. After offering KitKat updates for several smartphones over a period of about two months, the company promised to offer update for Q1200, Q900s, A500 Club, A600 and A550s IPS smartphones. These smartphones were released few months back running Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). The Android 4.4 (KitKat) update brings restyled status and navigation bars, color emoji, printing support, a new camera UI, immersiv mode, lock screen art, easy home screen switching, new email app, new phone dialer with ability to look up contacts directly from the dial pad, under the hood improvements and more. For the Xolo phones, the update adds New burst shot feature, Panorama + multi view and Live photo mode. The Android KitKat beta updates for the Xolo Q1200, Q900S and A500 Club are available from the official website here. Instructions for to install the updates are available from the separate redmine site. You need to download the file from the site and load it to the smartphone manually. Yesterday, a 9to5Google report revealed a photo of the Motorola Shamu or the Nexus 6 which was actually a mockup of the original device. Today, an alleged photo of the phone has been leaked by a user-Michael Sudol. In the photo the Motorola Shamu is placed next to the LG G3 that shows the phone is even taller than the 5.5 inch flagship device from LG. The phone also bears the name 'Shamu' on the rear back panel. In addition, we can see that the power and volume rockers are situated in the center of its side rather than located near the top like on the Moto X. Motorola Shamu is expected to sport a 5.9 inch screen with resolution of 2560 x 1440 and a 2.6GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage. It will likely feature a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 2-megapixel front-facing shooter and 3200mAh battery. Yesterday, HTC released a video teasing its upcoming product launch on October 8. It is expected that the company will launch a GoPro camera competitor at the event next month. Today, a couple of images of the camera have been taken from the RECamera website. As per one of the images, the camera looks like a small PVC pipe and has a circular lens that faces the user. The camera is strapped to a users backpack in this image. While in the second image, a woman is seen taking a selfie using the camera. The camera looks like a simple portable device that will be suitable for easy carrying and taking quick images. HTC has started a new RECamera account on Twitter and tweeted about the RECamera which further strengthenss the reports about its launch. However, at present no specs and features of the camera are known, though from the teaser video it looks like it will be water proof. The company just sent a press invite for the launch event in Bangalore on Wednesday. The invite says Make way for the Pro and The Pro Awaits You, but the smartphone's image clearly shows that it's the Z2 Pro. Lenovo India has also teased the smartphone on their Facebook page and it is listed on the official Lenovo India website along with the Lenovo Vibe X2, but it is not clear if the company plans to launch the Vibe X2 at the launch event next week. Instagram is adding a new feature to its recently launched Hyperlapse app for the iPhone and iPad, that lets user take high-quality time lapse videos even while in motion. The popular photo sharing app is now adding support for shooting Hyperlapse videos with the front facing camera on your device. Dubbed as 'Selfielapse', the latest feature adds a small button next to the camera shutter that toggles between the front- and rear-facing cameras. Switching to the front camera will alert you that you are switching to "selfielapse mode". Prior to this update, users were only able to shoot Hyperlapse videos using the rear camera. In addition, the app now also supports recently launched iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. Finally, Instagram has added few bug fixes and improvements to the app in latest update. Unfortunately, Hyperlapse is available only on iOS and works on iPhone and iPad. It is not known when the app will land on Android, but Instagram said "We hope to bring Hyperlapse to Android in the future. Unfortunately, the requisite APIs are not currently available on Android." Apple has released iOS 8.0.2 update for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The move comes from the company soon after it released and subsequently removed the iOS 8.0.1 update that affected users with cellular and Touch ID issues. Apple released the following statement alongside the update: "iOS 8.0.2 is now available for users, it fixes an issue that affected iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who downloaded iOS 8.0.1, and includes improvements and bug fixes originally in iOS 8.0.1. We apologize for inconveniencing the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who were impacted by the bug in iOS 8.0.1." The company had to release a new update(iOS 8.0.2) as users iPhones were not connected to cellular networks and their Touch ID buttons no longer scanned for fingerprints after updating to iOS 8.0.1 that was released yesterday. This update was supposed to fix multiple problems with the new software including one with Apple's HealthKit feature.
