Meizu's always been lauded for their design, right from the M9 to the soon-to-be-replaced MX3. I would've mentioned the M8 there as well, but the device bore too much of a resemblance to the iPhone to make it an original design. Chinese forums are abuzz with discussion about the next-gen Meizu, the MX4 which is scheduled to make an appearance soon. Keeping in mind the close ties that Meizu maintains with Samsung, it isn't tough to guess what SoC the MX4 would feature most likely (hint: Exynos). However, like many others, we're interested in design, one that cuts some edge! Here's something that could give fans and followers some respite - a purported image of the next in line Meizu flagship. What's worth noticing is that although the MX4 looks a lot like the MX3, the bezels on this one look seriously slim. Word on the street is that the phone could also pack a fingerprint reader (look at the skeleton design), but we'll keep mum for the moment. Recommended: Meizu Mx4 could feature a 20MP Sony camera While a lot of makers have been working on underlying tech, it is heartening to see one of Meizu's caliber attempting to take a different route, ... |
IUNI is far from a household name in countries other than China, but the wily maker has been making a lot of noise since late last year. The company launched the IUNI U2 earlier this year amidst huge fanfare. Why the anticipation for a virtually unknown maker, you wonder? Well, that's because the U2 promised to be an HTC M8 killer with the VFM proposition it brought on board. Now, the Gionee spin-off has announced that it would be launching its next flagship, the U3, later this month on the 26th. There's no confirmation yet, but outlets in IUNI's home country are reporting that the U3 would come with the now-standard (for flagships) 5.5-inch 1440p display (something we've seen on the LG G3 and the OPPO Find 7) and possibly even dual 4G standby, as their '4 x 2' flyer leaks suggest. Price-wise, IUNI will go straight for the most obvious competitor from China... the Xiaomi Mi 4. This means that the 2K beast could be priced as less as 1999 CNY or $320, which translates to some hardcore VFM. We shall know in a couple of weeks! Source | Via |
Motorola that bought Lenovo from Google for $2.91 billion earlier this year will help Lenovo to expand its sales in the global market by becoming its sales arm, when the two companies are merged officially, according to a report from DigiTimes. Motorola shipped 6.5 million smartphones globally in the first quarter of 2014 and it became the fourth largest smartphone vendor in India in the second quarter of 2014 replacing Nokia. Motorola managed increase the sales to 8-9 million units in the second quarter of 2014, according to the report. It also adds that Lenovo and Motorola together shipped 24.1 million handsets worldwide in Q2 2014. Lenovo shipped 15.8 million smartphones in Q2 2014, according to IDC report. So Motorola shipped 8.3 million smartphones in the quarter, slightly more than the previous one. After the merger is complete, Lenovo will acquire over 2,000 patent assets as well as the brand and trademark portfolio for Motorola Mobility. Lenovo holds the fourth spot as the largest smartphone vendor with 15.8% market share globally. It could increase its foothold in the smartphone space and more so in the western markets after the merger. Source |

[caption id="attachment_97951" align="alignnone" width="574"] Samsung Gear 2 Neo[/caption] Samsung is expected to announce the rumored Gear Solo at the IFA 2014 on September 3rd, along with the Galaxy Note 4, according to Korean publication Yonhap News. The official invite for the IFA 2014 from Samsung did not hint anything else other than the Note 4, but the company released all its Gear watches along with the Galaxy S5 at the MWC 2014 earlier this year, so we can expect anything. The Samsung Gear Solo (SM-R710) appeared on the India import/export website back in May and is expected to have a built-in SIM card or USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module) to use it as a standalone mobile device without pairing it to a smartphone. According to the report, the Gear Solo would come with 3G connectivity, but not include 4G LTE support. Since Samsung Gear 2 series had Heart rate sensor, the Gear Solo might also come with an heartrate sensor. Earlier reports said that it would be initially released in Korea in partnership with the local operator SK Telecom and would be released globally later. Samsung unveiled the Gear Live, it's first Android Wear smartwatch at the Google I/O in June. |

Both the Zenfone 5 and Zenfone 6 smartphones received a new software update earlier this week that brought better 3rd party app compatibility, system UI stability and more. We reviewed the smartphone recently and found it to be a good smartphone in a competitive price tag. "In order to constantly cater to the growing demand, the company will be filling in the stocks on weekly basis.", said the company in its official release. Hope the company would start selling the Zenfone 4 A450CG in India soon. |
