Lenovo introduced three new smartphones as part of their S lines of phones here at the Mobile World Congress. The Android handset brings mid range specifications to a budget price point. We take a brief look at the specifications and how the device feels in the hand.  Specifications 1.3Ghz quad core MTK6582M processor 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, Expandable storage 8MP camera Android 4.2 [gallery ids="97482,97484,97483"] The right side of the phone is where the volume rocker and power buttons lie. The phone has nicely rounded corners that feel good in the hand. The construction though is predominantly plastic. Powering the phone is a 1.3Ghz quad core MediaTek chipset which is paired with 1GB of RAM. The storage is limited to just 8GB but you can expand this via the microSD card slot. The screen is a 4.7 inch qHD (960x540) panel and has a pixel density of 234ppi. The viewing angles are beyond average and brightness levels can be cranked up quite high. The phone runs on Android 4.2 and is of the dual SIM variety. At the back of the phone is its 8MP camera module and next to it is a single LED flash. Introduction Apple had introduced the original iPad Mini without the RETINA display and that pretty much confirmed that the second generation of Apple iPad Mini would come with the RETINA display. Motorola announced Project Ara, an open hardware platform for creating highly modular smartphones. Even though Google sold Motorola to Lenovo, Google announced that it will keep Project Ara. Google has created a dedicated webpage for Project Ara and has also announced that it plans for three Ara Developers' Conferences in 2014. The first one is scheduled for April 15th to 16th. In this conference, it will concentrate on the alpha release of the Ara Module Developers' Kit (MDK) to develop an Ara module. The alpha developers kit is expected to be released online in early April. In the conference it will offer, Detailed walk-through of existing and planned features of the Ara platform Community feedback sessions on the alpha MDK Announcement of a series of prize challenges for module developers. Full schedule would be detailed in a few weeks, says Google. Google will also offer live webstream of the conference. HP had announced the HP Slate 7 Extreme sometime in September. HP Slate 7 Extreme is just a rebranded version of the NVIDIA Tegra Note and comes with HP's own Direct Stylus. The HP Slate 7 Extreme looks like a variant of the NVidia Tegra Note, but with HP branding. It has been more than four months since we had seen a smartphone from Panasonic India. The Panasonic T31 was launched back in October, the company has started teasing their upcoming Panasonic P31 smartphone with new software features in their new teasers. The phone would come with Gesture Play, a new unlock feature that lets you draw on the screen to unlock the smartphone and POP-I Player, a new multi-tasking video player. It might have more software features. Panasonic did not reveal the specifications of the smartphone yet, but AndroidOS spotted a video teaser that reveals the specifications of the phone, before it was removed. According to the video teaser, the phone would come with a 5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) display with oleophobic coating for a smudge-free screen, 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, 8-megapixel rear camera and a front-facing camera. Panasonic would also offer free content worth Rs. 10,399 with the phone. Micromax Funbook Ultra HD P580, the company's latest tablet in the Funbook series is now available from HomeShop18. It has a 7.8-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) IPS display, powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean). Google has started rolling out a new Google + update (version 4.3) for Android, that brings a lot of new photo editing features, new filters, snap-seed-inspired tools and more. The main feature is the non-destructive photo editing, that lets you backup full-resolution photos from your desktop, edit them on your phone, add edit the same photo with some finishing touches from your tablet. Google Nexus 5, that was launched with Android 4.4 (KitKat) was the only to come with Google Now Launcher to directly access Google Now from the home screen. Earlier this month there were reports about the launcher coming too Google Play. We even saw APKs to side-load the launcher on other devices.
