| ![]() Micromax is all set to launch their devices in Russia and Romania later this year, according to a recent report from The Hindu Business Line. Micromax roped in the Hollywood actor Hugh Jackman as their brand Ambassador and launched its flagship smartphone, the Canvas Turbo, the company's latest flagship smartphone with a full HD display yesterday. Micromax is now the no. 2 Smartphone player with 22% marketshare in India, according to a recent report from IDC. Micromax already sells their devices in Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri-Lanka, Maldives, UAE, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Oman, Afghanistan and Brazil. They plan to start selling their devices in Russia starting from this December, and has already set up an office in Russia with initial employees, says the report. It is also eyeing to launch their smartphones in range of European countries. Micromax is already ready with couple of devices especially for the Russia market, and has also tied up with Yandex, Russia's largest search engine for applications. | ![]() Panasonic might have announced its retirement from the consumer smartphone market worldwide, but weirdly enough, that has not stopped the company from launching devices in India. One of them is the Panasonic P11, which seems like a specced down version of the P51 that we reviewed earlier. The P11 has almost the same specifications as the P51, with a quad core 1.2 GHz processor, 4GB of internal storage, but running on the older Android 4.1 operating system. But what's striking is the outer shell, in a radical fluorescent green colour. | ![]() Tapbots, the creators of the popular Tweetbot app has finally released a new version of the Tweetbot as iOS 7 update. The company had missed to update the app for the iOS 7 software that was released last month. It recently announced that they have finally submitted Tweetbot for iPhone to the app store on October 17th. When the existing Tweetbot users thought the app would be updated with iOS 7 support, the company has now released the Tweetbot 3 as a new app for iOS 7 users. Tapbots says that the Tweetbot 3 has been completely be redesigned from the ground-up for the iOS 7 that offers faster performance and has a minimal look more like iOS7. Other than the redesign the Twitter app has native Push Notifications, Mute filters, option to Sync timeline position, direct message read statuses and mute filters and more. | ![]() Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL), a subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited has announced that it has received unified License for all 22 Service Areas across India. This would allow RJIL to offer all telecom services including voice telephony under a single license. It is the only pan India operator with Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) spectrum across 22 circles capable of offering fourth generation (4G) wireless services. The Cabinet has approved the New Telecom Policy 2012 back in May 2012 which was the main reason for the introduction of free roaming across the country at a nominal cost and the upcoming Full Mobile Number Portability (MNP). It also stressed on single license across India under a new unified licence regime that prevents a separate license for the operators. MTS India, which operates under Sistema Shyam TeleServices (SSTL) got Unified Telecom License earlier this month. Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited (RJIL) signed the Unified License Agreement with Government of India, Ministry of Communication & IT, Department of Telecommunication (Access Service Division) on 21st October 2013 after submission of desired documents and payment of requisite entry fee. | ![]() Samsung just reported its Q3 earnings for 2013, in which the company has managed to make operating profit of 10.16 trillion won (~US$9.6 billion), which is the highest Samsung has ever posted in a single quarter and a 7-percent increase compared to last quarter. It has reported net profit of 8.24 trillion won (~US$7.76 billion) and revenues of 59.08 trillion won (~US$55.6 billion). Mobile phone sales accounted for 35.20 trillion won (~US$33.1 billion), which is 2-percent increase compared to last quarter. Mobile phone sales were strong in the premium segment with steady increase in sales of the Galaxy S4, Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note series of smartphones. Sales of low-end Galaxy smartphone increased in the quarter. The Galaxy Tab sales significantly increased compared to the previous quarter due to the new Tab 3 line-up, says Samsung. Samsung expect more sales in the fourth quarter with the Note 3 and the Galaxy Gear launch, which would also be expanded to more countries. Samsung expects balanced growth in both developed and emerging market for smartphones and expects an increase in LTE smartphone sales in North America and Korea with affordable LTE plans.
