American cellular operator, Sprint, announced that it will be carrying a new Windows Phone running smartphone called the Samsung ATIV S Neo. The new handset will sport some rather interesting features including what is being called as ATIV Beam. This Samsung exclusive application will let users 'beam' across photos, music and videos to other Windows Phone 8 and select Android devices. The specifications include a 1.4Ghz dual core processor and 1GB of RAM. The handset features a microSD card slot and a 4.8 inch HD display. An 8 megapixel camera can be spotted at the back while a front facing 1.9MP camera can be seen above the screen. The camera app includes several preloaded lenses like the Beauty Shot mode for smoother looking skin in headshots, Manga Camera to give pictures a fun twist by turning friends and family into cartoons, and built-in Photo Editor that allows the user to edit, color, effect, decorate or share their pictures quickly and easily. The battery on the other hand is a bit disappointing at just 2,000 mAh. The smartphone will launch later this year on Sprint at a price point of $150 on a two year contract. |

Foursquare has updated both the Android (v2013.06.25) and iPhone (v6.2.2) apps that brings new features including option to check in your friends when you're out together. Last year both the Foursquare apps got option to mention your Foursquare friends in your check-in, now the new check-in option to check-in everyone. You can tag your Foursquare friends in the "I'm with" option in the check-in screen after selecting a place. After that your friend would get a notification asking for permission to let you check them in. Once they accept it they'll get checked in and you'll also be able to check them in in the future. If they reject, they'll be mentioned in the check-in as usual. If you check in at the same place, before or after the friend check-in, yours will be the only one we show that would let you add a photo or add comment. There also a delete button to remove the check-in with one tap. Download Foursquare for Android and iPhone, if you don't have them yet. Read |

On Thursday in London & New York, Samsung made available its well-leaked and previewed variant of the Galaxy S4, the S4 Active. Having had a few minutes to play around with the device we came away with a few impressions, though a more detailed review will likely be a few weeks away. The build quality of the Galaxy S4 has been the subject of much discussion with opinions running the gamut from decent-but-not-brilliant to mediocre and much to my dismay the S4 Active is no different. Early photos gave the impression that the Active was a metal-clad device, replete with external screws. Sadly, the device is plastic, the same plastic that can be found on the Galaxy S4. It wouldn't be unfair to say that the design materials used in the S4 Active are no different from those found in the S4. As the name implies though, the S4 Active has been designed to be a life companion for the more active among us. As a a result, the S4 Active is built to IP67 standards. This means that not only is the device completely sealed to the effects and ingress of dust but can also be submerged in up to 1m of ... |
