Google is widely expected to launch a second larger tablet at its upcoming
Android centric event to provide a higher end offering alongside its
current Nexus 7. The Nexus 10 was today leaked by BriefMobile and as
expected, runs Android 4.2 on Samsung manufactured hardware. The screen is
a 10.1" unit with a resolution of 2500x1600. This results in a ppi of 298.9
which is most definitely higher than that on the iPad's retina display.
Powering the tablet is a Samsung Exynos 5250 chip clocked at 1.7Ghz. The
chip handily beats the Qualcomm S4 Pro and Apple's A6 chip in benchmarks.
With a Dual-core Cortex A15 CPU and a Mali T604 GPU, this is the same chip
powering Google's latest Chromebook. Coupled with 2GB of RAM, the hardware
is more than capable of powering the OS, Android 4.2 which brings nifty
additions like multiple user support.
The tablet includes 16GB of storage with no microSD card slot. Connectivity
options include NFC, WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0. A 5 megapixel camera can be
found at the back alongside an LED flash, a front facing camera is included

Looks like Apple is gearing up to launch the iPhone 5 in India soon.
Multiple retailers have started to announce the prices for the latest
iPhone.The iPhone 5 might start retailing at Rs.45,500 for the 16GB model.
Both White and Black versions of the phone are expected to go on sale. But
still stocks are extremely limited considering the global demand for the
device. Apple had reportedly appointed Ingram Micro and Redington as
distributors for the iPhone 5. This was partially confirmed today as we got
a press release from Ingram Micro about the same indicating a November 2nd
release and now there is a link to a webpage containing the Redington logo
which has popped up.

GTA Vice City coming to select Android and iOS devices this fall

Rockstar Games is celebrating their 10th anniversary of their popular Game,
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. To commemorate this they would launch GTA Vice
City for select iOS and Android devices this fall. They launched their
popular game, Grand Theft Auto III for Android and iOS last December. The
GTA Vice City is inspired from 1980s American culture and is set in 1986 in
Vice City, a fictional city modeled after Miami.
This would offer full experience to touch screen mobile devices including
tablets. It would also feature native high-resolution graphics, custom
controls and several enhancements unique to Android and iOS devices similar
to the GTA III.
Rockstar Games did not reveal the supported devices yet, but the complete
list would be announced in coming weeks.

Apple iPhone 5 to launch in India on 2nd November

Apple's latest and greatest iPhone will be available in India starting 2nd
November. Instead of relying on carrier support, the company has
appointed Ingram Micro and Redington as distribution partners. The pricing
is believed to be Rs. 45,500 for the 16GB model while the 32GB and 64GB
models will be priced at Rs. 52,500 and Rs. 59,500 but we're still waiting
on official word to confirm this.
Ingram Micro today published a release stating that the phone will be
available at several retail outlets around the country starting November
2nd.
"Ingram Micro announced today that it will offer iPhone 5 at leading modern
trade stores and retail outlets across India beginning Friday, November 2 "
Apple had dropped prices for the iPhone 4 and 4S earlier this month. The
iPhone 5 is powered by an A6 processor and the screen size has been pushed
up to 4 inches with a change in aspect ratio as well. The iOS 6 running
smartphone includes an 8MP camera over at the back. The phone features a
radically redesigned back and is considerably thinner than the previous
generation iPhone.

the German and US courts had ruled in Apple's favor awarding them over 1
billion dollars in damages, the UK courts passed judgement that Samsung had

published a statement stating that Samsung did not infringe on their
copyright.
However the Cupertino based company also made it abundantly clear that the
reasoning for this was that Apple's superior design and understated appeal
makes it hard to copy. The Samsung tablet was just not 'cool' enough. The
judgement passed on 18th October has effect throughout the European Union.

Samsung reports profit of $7.4 billion for Q3 2012

Samsung has reported operating profit of 8.12 trillion won ($7.4 billion)
for the third quarter of 2012. That's a 91% year-on-year increase . The net
profit was 6.56 trillion won. The Mobile unit accounted for more than 50%
of revenue with 26.25 trillion in this quarter, 82% increase year-on-year.
The increase in profit in this segment is due to the increase in Smartphone
shipments significantly due to global expansion of Galaxy S 3 and and mid
or low-end products in competitive price points. The GALAXY Tab market were
strong with the latest addition of GALAXY Note 10.1.
The Semiconductor segment saw operating profit of 1.15 trillion won, which
is 8% less compared to Q3 2011. The shipments of Organic Light-Emitting
Diode (OLED) and Liquid Crystal Display panels used in tablets and
smartphones increased in the quarter.

Firm IDC (International Data Corporation). Nokia loses its place in the top

worldwide smartphone market saw 45.3% year-over-year growth in Q3 2012
with 179.7 million unit shipments, compared to 123.7 million units in Q3
2011.
According to the table above, Samsung has 31.3% smartphone market share
with 56.3 million unit shipments in Q3 2012. Apple shipped 26.9 million
smartphones and has 15.0% market share, which is almost the same as last
quarter (Q2 2012). ZTE moves to the 4th spot pushing HTC to the 4th spot.
The Worldwide mobile phone shipments were 444.5 million in Q3 2012,
compared to 434.1 million units in the third quarter of 2011. Samsung,
Nokia and Apple are the leading Mobile vendors by shipments once again.

trade stores and retail outlets across India beginning Friday, November 2 "
Apple had dropped prices for the iPhone 4 and 4S earlier this month. The
iPhone 5 is powered by an A6 processor and the screen size has been pushed
up to 4 inches with a change in aspect ratio as well. The iOS 6 running
smartphone includes an 8MP camera over at the back. The phone features a
radically redesigned back and is considerably thinner than the previous
generation iPhone.

Samsung did not copy statement published by Apple

If you've been following the Apple vs Samsung case you'll know that while
the German and US courts had ruled in Apple's favor awarding them over 1
billion dollars in damages, the UK courts passed judgement that Samsung had
not copied Apple. In accordance with the court's ruling, Apple today
published a statement stating that Samsung did not infringe on their
copyright.
However the Cupertino based company also made it abundantly clear that the
reasoning for this was that Apple's superior design and understated appeal
makes it hard to copy. The Samsung tablet was just not 'cool' enough. The
judgement passed on 18th October has effect throughout the European Union.
Apple published its quarterly earnings report last evening and reported
sales of 14 million iPads.

Samsung reports profit of $7.4 billion for Q3 2012

Samsung has reported operating profit of 8.12 trillion won ($7.4 billion)
for the third quarter of 2012. That's a 91% year-on-year increase . The net
profit was 6.56 trillion won. The Mobile unit accounted for more than 50%
of revenue with 26.25 trillion in this quarter, 82% increase year-on-year.
The increase in profit in this segment is due to the increase in Smartphone
shipments significantly due to global expansion of Galaxy S 3 and and mid
or low-end products in competitive price points. The GALAXY Tab market were
strong with the latest addition of GALAXY Note 10.1.
The Semiconductor segment saw operating profit of 1.15 trillion won, which
is 8% less compared to Q3 2011. The shipments of Organic Light-Emitting
Diode (OLED) and Liquid Crystal Display panels used in tablets and
smartphones increased in the quarter.

IDC: Samsung, Apple top Smartphone vendors in Q3 2012, Nokia not in top 5

Samsung and Apple are the leading Smartphone vendors based on
shipments, once again in the Q3 2012, according to a report by Research
Firm IDC (International Data Corporation). Nokia loses its place in the top
5 list, while RIM enters the top 5 spot by replacing Nokia's 3rd spot. The
worldwide smartphone market saw 45.3% year-over-year growth in Q3 2012
with 179.7 million unit shipments, compared to 123.7 million units in Q3
2011.
According to the table above, Samsung has 31.3% smartphone market share
with 56.3 million unit shipments in Q3 2012. Apple shipped 26.9 million
smartphones and has 15.0% market share, which is almost the same as last
quarter (Q2 2012). ZTE moves to the 4th spot pushing HTC to the 4th spot.
The Worldwide mobile phone shipments were 444.5 million in Q3 2012,
compared to 434.1 million units in the third quarter of 2011. Samsung,
Nokia and Apple are the leading Mobile vendors by shipments once again.
Samsung continues to remain in the top spot with over 100 million shipments
in Q3 2012. Nokia and LG continue to lose their market share even in the
