Samsung Multi-Display Package Announced Samsung has unveiled a new set of multi-display monitor package. Each monitor measures 23 inches and bundles can either be purchased in 3 monitor or 6 monitor setups. A single monitor option is also available. The multi-monitor setup is designed to function with the AMD ATI Eyefinity card and is designed for gamers and business users who require a multi-monitor configuration.
The new series of Samsung monitors have an ultra thin bezel on the left and right sides that measures just 7.6mm. Samsung say this is about 1/3 of the size of normal monitors. This allows the monitors to be put side by side without a too large bezel being in the way of the image. When put together the monitors have a resolution of 5760x2160 pixels which falls in to the ultra-high definition category. A contrast ratio of 3000:1 is also available on this setup. When buying the package of 3 or 6 monitors, all the kit is included to let you mount everything correctly. When normally buying a multi monitor setup, users occasionally need to buy separate stands depending on their desk space and needs.

Apple iPhone 4G spotted possibly running iPhone OS 4.0 This next picture of the Apple [AAPL] iPhone 4G comes courtesy of the same team that provided the other iPhone 4G leak earlier this week. All previous shots of this iPhone 4G were shown running what looked to be a test screen showing fire in the top left corner. We now see a new capture of the device but this time running what appears to be iPhone OS 4.0. If you remember back to Gizmodo and the phone they got hold of, Apple had remotely killed the phone and all they could see is the iTunes sync image. It isn't clear at the moment if this is a faked shot or if somehow the team in Vietnam managed to bypass the test screen and actually load OS 4.0 on to the device. The reason it is believed to be iPhone OS 4.0 is due to the background running on the unlock screen which appears to be just like the background used on the OS 4.0. The information on the source page is translated by Google and says... "Iphone 4G VN is distributed by the network not it? Maybe not then, we'll be the first use:"... which really doesn't clear anything up unfortunately. If we can find out more about this shot we'll provide an update about what is actually happening here. Right now it's all a bit of a mystery. |
Wortmann Terra Mobile 1020Go Netbook Launched Wortmann has launched a new netbook called the Wortmann Terra Mobile 1020Go. The company isn't really big in the netbook business and not really a company we have heard of before. Either way, the Terra Mobile 1020Go packs the usual features which includes an Intel Atom N450 processor running at 1.66GHz. It has a 10.1 inch screen that is backlit by LED. Memory wise it has 1GB of RAM and for storage it has a 160GB hard disk drive. Wireless LAN on the netbook can connect to 802.11b/g networks. The netbook uses the NM10 Express Chipset along with Intel GMA3150 integrated graphics. The keyboard on the 1020Go netbook is a chicklet style. Other features include a 1.3 megapixel camera built in along with a memory card reader. For extra connectivity there is an optional UMTS module that can be included in the sale. The operating system running on the 1020Go netbook is Windows 7 Starter Pack. An impressive spec out of all the rest of the relatively normal features is that the battery is capable of powering the netbook for around 10 hours. When launched the netbook will cost 329 Euros in Europe. If you choose the Windows 7 Professional version, prices will start at 479 Euros. Via: EeePC |
BGR managed to get some exclusive information on the upcoming BlackBerry Tablet that we first mentioned last week. Before we go on, the image above is just a mock-up of what it might look like. The BlackBerry Tablet will have an 8.9 inch screen and will be classed as a "companion" device. What this means is that the device will have no 3G connection built in, but instead, will be a companion to your BlackBerry smartphone. WiFi will be built in, but the way to get on-line on the go will be via a BlueTooth connection to your BlackBerry device. As for launch dates, it is expected that the BlackBerry Tablet will launch in December although the team working on it are trying to speedily work and launch it a little earlier if possible. The main focus of the BB Tablet will be multimedia which includes reading e-books, eMail, web browsing and photo viewing. The downside is that it kind of misses the point in my opinion (and the opinion of others). Users don't want to be tied to something over Bluetooth. Not having a 3G option is a mistake. We'll still wait to see how it all pans out though as RIM might make changes to how it will all work. Via: BGR |
Apple iPhone 4G Spotted the Third Time Well, we have another few images of the Apple iPhone 4G that appear to have come from a third leak. Previous leaks included the Gizmodo leak last month and the Vietnamese leak a couple of days ago. This model is also a 16GB model and like the Vietnamese model, lacks the screws either side of the 30 pin dock connector. The Gizmodo phone was believed to be an older prototype as it still contained the screws just like the iPhone 3G and 3GS have. Not much information has been provided about this particular leak, and perhaps we are looking at the same iPhone 4G that was photographed in Vietnam this week. It's certainly been an interesting month or so due the strange amount of leaks that have been found of the next generation iPhone. All should be revealed in the next few weeks when Apple [AAPL] are supposedly going to announce the device. All these leaks has led some to believe that Apple have actually planned the leaks for extra PR although we are not 100% convinced ourselves of this due to how much coverage Apple naturally get on their product launches. Either way, we "might" find out what happened in the future and how 2 to 3 next gen iPhone models were removed from the hands of Apple. |
Sprint Launch Common Cents Mobile – New Prepaid Brand at Walmart Sprint [S] has launched a new prepaid brand that is heading exclusively to Walmart stores. The new brand is called Common Cents Mobile and has basic plans that includes 7 cents per minute calls and 7 cent text messages as part of the deal. One unique features of the new Sprint Common Cents Mobile system is that it actually rounds-down calls to the nearest minute meaning that if your call is 7 minutes 59 seconds long you get charged for 7 minutes rather than 8 minutes.
The Round Down service is exclusive to the Common Cents Mobile brand. Other providers round up the calls made to 2 minutes if a 1:01 call is made for example. As well as launching the new prepay plans, Sprint are also launching a number of handsets at Walmart that allow users to take advantage of the service. This includes the LG101 that costs just $19.77, the Samsung M340 that costs $39.77 and the Kyocera S2300 that costs $69.77. All of these phones are by no means top of the range phones, but for those looking to use this plan they will sit well with customers. Top ups are as follows... If an extra $20/month is paid, users can increase their text allowance to unlimited. Data is priced at $1/megabyte per day. Adobe Attack Apple with New Ads Adobe and Apple [AAPL] have been in the news a fair bit recently with this Flash business. They still seem to be feeling the pains as they just started up a new campaign over on Engadget where two ads are showing. The first says "We [heart] Apple" and the second ad says "What we don't love is anybody taking away your freedom to choose what you create, how you create it, and what you experience on the web". As well as pushing the ads on to Engadget, a letter has also been written by Adobe saying what they feel about the situation...
Adobe isn't going to give up the battle too soon although it appeared a few weeks ago to be that way. Engadget also point out that Adobe need to make sure they run the ads in HTML5 format also to allow iPad and iPhone users to actually see the ads. |

Sony Ericsson X10 Mini Heading to Vodafone UK Last week we came across information indicating that Vodafone in the UK could be getting the Sony Ericsson X10 Mini. This has now been confirmed by a coming soon page on the Vodafone online store. The X10 Mini from Sony Ericsson is an Android OS phone that has a small 2.5 inch screen (hence the Mini name). It has a 5 megapixel camera on the back and also has a built in GPS. For connectivity it will connect to 3G and HSDPA networks and also has Bluetooth and WiFi available for connections to the web if needed. As Vodafone only has the X10 Mini listed as coming soon, prices and contract details have not been release just yet. With that in mind, we do hope to find out official pricing and a launch date very soon with perhaps an official launch of the handset early June or perhaps even late May. As soon as details are made available we'll post them here. For now, registration for showing interest in the phone can be done over at the Vodafone site. |
Samsung Galaxy S 16GB Heading to Vodafone UK As well as launching the Samsung Wave on to the Vodafone network in the UK, Vodafone is also bringing the Samsung Galaxy S 16GB to the network as well. The Samsung Galaxy S was also announced several months ago and runs a very powerful GPU capable of moving a high amount of triangles on screen. The phone it's self runs Google Android 2.1, it has the Samsung Super AMOLED screen to provide a HD resolution. It is also exclusive to Vodafone. The Super AMOLED screen measures 4 inches. The camera on the back is capable of capturing pictures at 5 megapixels. Other features of the phone also include GPS, WiFi for connectivity as well as 3G and HSDPA. Overall the Samsung Galaxy S looks set to be an impressive phone. Lets just hope that an Android 2.2 update will be made available making it even faster than it currently is. The phone is not available for pre-order yet, but full details as well as a registration for interest can be found over at Vodafone. As with the Samsung Wave, we expect this phone will arrive in the next few weeks, perhaps late this month or early next month. |
Samsung Wave Heading to Vodafone UK Today, Vodafone added several new smartphones to their online store and have put coming soon pages up for each of them. The first of the smartphones is the Samsung Wave. The Samsung Wave was first announced back in February. It uses the Samsung Super AMOLED display that provides a HD resolution screen. The camera is capable of capturing images at 5 megapixels. The smartphone also includes GPS. The Samsung Wave uses the Samsung Bada OS that heavily revolves around social networking by allowing you to add live updates from Twitter and other social networking sites direct on the home page. For connectivity the Samsung Wave has Bluetooth, 3G, HSDPA as well as WiFi allowing high speed connections to occur in most places. It's an impressive looking phone which also managed to get HD DivX certification. It isn't clear when the phone will launch and prices have also not been revealed just yet. The phone is coming soon though and will land on the Vodafone network here in the UK possibly this month, or perhaps early June. Full details can be found on the Vodafone site. |
Comcast Xfinity Remote Apple iPad App Demoed Comcast has created a new Apple iPad app that allows your iPad to interface with your cable box. The application gives a complete run-down of what's on TV now and what is coming up soon. The software interfaces with the TV box allowing you to use the iPad as a giant remote control and channel guide. Also the Xfinity Remote app allows you to search on-demand content where an in-depth review of each program is displayed on screen. Once you find the title you want to watch, just tap on the iPad screen to launch it on your TV. Sharing abilities are also built in allowing you to join up with friends who run the same Comcast TV service and who also have the iPad app installed. You can then use the iPad to send an invite out to your friend to switch his TV channel to the same as yours. It's quite a handy application and one I hope we see come to the UK. Of course Sky and Virgin who provide digital TV will be the ones who need to create their own equivalent application to launch in the UK. Sky do have an app that works for the iPhone, but this app doesn't have the ability to change channels etc... and can only be used to set remote recordings of programs when needed. The Comcast app isn't available just yet, but should be launched soon. Check out the video below to see it in action...
